Gemcan was appointed to take over the construction of the LDS Pakenham facility after the project was left incomplete by another builder. The first stage of Gemcan’s involvement required extensive investigations and assessments of the works already carried out to verify structural integrity, compliance, and overall workmanship. This process ensured that all previously completed works met required standards and provided a sound foundation for the continuation of the project.

Once investigations were completed, Gemcan developed and executed a comprehensive completion strategy. Internally, works included the installation of new carpet and joinery, the construction of a feature timber lectern and font, the application of wall carpet for both acoustic and aesthetic purposes, and the integration of a new audiovisual system to support services and community gatherings. Externally, Gemcan delivered extensive landscaping with new garden beds, the construction of a fully sealed carpark, and the addition of new pedestrian pathways to improve accessibility and site circulation.

Successfully navigating the complexities of inheriting and finalising a partially completed project, Gemcan demonstrated strong problem-solving capabilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering a facility that meets the client’s functional requirements and reflects the high-quality finish expected by the community.
